A support system, built with experts

HerWell Africa puts women in a room with the specialists who can answer the questions they have been carrying alone: clinicians on what the body and the hormones are doing, a dietitian on what to eat when the body changes the rules, counsellors and advisers on the mind, the money and the rest of life. Small rooms, real questions, named experts.

Every conversation is published afterwards as a record, so the women who come and the sponsors who may one day fund the work can see exactly what happened. See what is coming up.

Three steps, every time.

How HerWell works

01

Gather

A small room, a real table, women who came for the same reason. Dress up if you like; the room is worth it.

02

Learn from the experts

A named specialist in the subject, talking plainly, taking questions. No slides read aloud, no products pushed.

03

Keep the support

Notes, referrals and next steps after the room, and a circle of women and experts you can go back to.

Founded by two women who were tired of the silence

Liz Mwendwa, HerWell’s founder and Femtor, convenes the room: a female mentor with a background in counselling, sociology and management, whose job is to bring the right experts together and ask the questions women are afraid to ask. Betty Okere, co-founder, is a registered clinical dietitian and certified diabetes educator with more than fifteen years in clinical nutrition and public health.

Around them, a growing circle of named specialists, each leading the conversation she is qualified for. Meet the founders and the circle.

Why now

Kenya held its first National Menopause Conference in August 2025, and the Ministry of Health called menopause a neglected public-health issue. A WhatsApp support group on the subject reached two thousand members in eight weeks. The need is not in question. What is missing is a trusted room, with real experts, that women can actually get into.

HerWell Africa is that room, and it will not stop at menopause. Read what we measure.

Questions women ask us first

What is HerWell Africa?
A support system for women, built with experts. We run events where Kenyan specialists talk plainly about the things women are expected to manage alone, across seven dimensions of a woman’s life: her body, her hormones, her mind, her relationships, her wealth, her nourishment and her purpose. Upcoming events are on the events page.
Is this only about menopause?
No. Perimenopause is the first conversation because it is the one almost nobody has, but HerWell covers seven dimensions: her body, her hormones, her mind, her relationships, her wealth, her nourishment and her purpose. The events rotate through them.
Who are the experts?
Practising specialists under their own names: a registered clinical dietitian and diabetes educator with more than fifteen years in clinical nutrition and public health, a founder trained in counselling, sociology and management, and the clinicians, counsellors and advisers joining the circle. Every expert on this site is named, with their credentials.
Is HerWell a clinic?
No. We do not diagnose or treat anything, and nothing on this site is medical advice. What we do is put you in a room with people who can answer your questions, and point you to the right care when you need it.
Do I need to be a certain age?
No. Perimenopause can start in the late thirties, and money, food and relationships do not wait for a birthday. If the topic is yours, the room is yours.

Invest in you.

Join HerWell and hear about every conversation first. Rooms are small and women only.
